Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.

Nutritional Counseling

We provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices to enhance our patientīs return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Dr. Guy Pistilli can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs.

Therapy Techniques

Primarily, Dr. Pistilli's treatment consists of hands-on techniques including massage, stretching, mobilization and manipulation. Treatment may also include one or more of a variety of non-manual therapies as follows:

Spider Tech TapeSpider Tech Taping Is the latest kinesiology taping using pre-engineered waterproof elastic cotton taping.  Taping delivers therapetic benefits of improved circulation and tissue healing, prevention of further injury, and restoration of function and mobility to injured muscles and joints.

Assisted Myofascial Tool Therapy The use of a stainless steel tool to identify and treat any myofascial structures can offer dramatic improvement in a variety of soft tissue injuries that were unresponsive to other forms of therapies.

Ice The use of ice during the initial stages of an injury promotes the contraction of blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling and bleeding from the injury. It can also decrease inflammation and to a lesser extent muscle spasm.

Interferential Stimulation The use of a type of electric muscle stimulation to produce natural body opiate-like substances to significantly reduce feelings of pain.

Galvanic Muscle Stimulation A form of electrical muscle stimulation that allows the muscles to relax and thereby control painful muscle spasms.

Traction A mechanical device that reduces the compression along a swollen joint or disc to promote healing and control pain from the inflamed joint.

Inversion Therapy A holistic therapy that in one form or another has been around for 2000 years. It involves laying vertical on a table with your foot anchored then inverting the table from 50 to 90 degrees. Inversion removes the effect of gravity allowing fluid to return to the joint spaces and providing separation between structures such as ligaments, spurs, cartilage and nerves whose contact could be the source of a persons back pain.
